Our Village Story

Castlewarren — Caisleán an Bhairínigh — is a village with a strong sense of place. St Scuithin’s Church, built around 1830, remains at the heart of its heritage.

The proposed Community Hub

A welcoming, practical place for village life: children’s activities, clubs, meetings, music, recreation and connection throughout the year.

The submitted plans include a multi-purpose sports and activity hall, meeting rooms, a café with indoor and outdoor seating, toilets, storage, a site entrance and car parking.

Planning update · Autumn 2026

Kilkenny County Council requested further information on the application. The newsletter describes the application as being at the Further Information stage. This is a historical update from the October 2026 edition, not a live planning status.

Useful local information

Minutes matter

In a suspected cardiac arrest: call 112 or 999, start CPR and ask someone to bring the nearest defibrillator.

The newsletter identifies the local defibrillator at the side access to St Scuithin’s Church. An AED provides spoken instructions and delivers a shock only when appropriate. Do not delay calling emergency services.
